Adrian David Cheok

Adrian CheokAdrian David Cheok is director of the Mixed Reality Lab of National University of Singapore, where he is also an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He became a full professor at Keio University, Graduate School of Media Design in April, 2008.

He previously worked on real-time systems, soft computing, and embedded computing in Mitsubishi Electric Research Labs (Osaka, Japan). He has worked on research covering mixed reality, human-computer interfaces, wearable computers and ubiquitous computing, fuzzy systems, embedded systems, and power electronics. Cheok has successfully obtained funding for externally funded projects in the area of wearable computers and mixed reality from Nike, National Oilwell Varco, Defense Science Technology Agency, Ministry of Communications and Arts, National Arts Council, Singapore Science Center, and the Hougang Primary School.  In the Mixed Reality Lab, he leads a team of over 20 researchers and students. He has been a keynote and invited speaker at numerous international conferences and events.

Cheok was born and raised in Adelaide, Australia and graduated with first class honors  from the University of Adelaide with a bachelor of engineering (electrical and electronic)  in 1992, and continued there for graduate work, earning his Ph.D. in engineering in 1998.
